October is here and the garden is still bursting with color. I love the various shades of green, all competing to be the most vibrant. Zinnias, marigolds, and yellow cosmos are still dazzling. The end is near for many garden plants, but for now they are invigorated by the cooler temperatures and recent rain.

Now it's time to move things around in the garden. Black raspberries, strawberries, and comfrey have found new homes already. The sycamores and locusts that have volunteered will soon be transferred to more appropriate settings. The weeding, mulching, pruning, and compost building tasks are suddenly enjoyable in the absence of extreme heat and humidity.

The less intense sunlight makes for great photographs. Here's a sampling.
